Mon-uuu-mental update on my TDS site.
It's an oldie from 1998 with Jon Stewart and Craig Kilborn.

Man, I loved watching this. (I hope to have a transcript up soon) I got this in the mail from a fan of the site, Emile last year and she loved "old skool" Daily Show as much as I do. I had not seen this since 1998 when I was a sophmore in high school. I remember I thought that Jon wasn't going to cut it. Boy was I wrong!

I'd love to get my hands on some more old TDS, but that's impossible. Nobody recorded Daily Show back then.

And what the hell ever happend to corresponent A. Whitney Brown? Him and Brian Unger were so awesome back then.

Oh, and February 2005 added too.

I got this nice e-mail today:

Hi, My name is Belle Domingo and I work for mtvU, MTV's college network. Noticed you had a Jon Stewart website and thought you might be interested that mtvU is awarding Jon Stewart an Honorary Degree. Just wanted to give you a heads up we'll be airing Jon Stewart's Honorary Degree acceptance speech on Monday May 2 only on mtvU. BUT I thought you'd want a sneak peak for your fan site before anyone else. Feel free to pass on to your friends….

Meet the mtvU 2005 Honorary Degree Recipients

Congratulations to mtvU's First Annual Honorary Degree Recipients, who make us laugh, rock, and think. Watch their special commencement addresses for the class of '05 and college students across the country, right here -- only on mtvU.

Oh man, last week I broke out a TDS tape from May of 2001 because I wanted to watch Vance DeGeneres' last episode of TDS again, and I ran across the TDS clip special Steve Carell Salutes Steve Carell, and I forgot how good this special was. And I've so memorized the "How Do I Do It?" song Steve and Stephen Coblert sings at the end of the special.

"The World Incredible Is APT!!!"

I ran across that ep of TDS that Stephen hosted from July of last year, and I totally forgot about this bit:

Stephen said something like "this week, Iraqis turned on the tv, and saw a disturbing image of someone they had not seen in a long time..."
(cut to a video clip about to be shown. The viewing audience thinks its a clip of Saddam)
It's a clip of David Lee Roth's video for "Just a Gigolo (sp?)"
And Stephen laughed and said "we showed the wrong clip, but he's just as disturbing"

Great joke. Stephen had nice hair in that ep.

NEW YORK, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Bush vs. Kerry. It was a political year to remember as reported by the best fake journalists in the business. For the first time in "The Daily Show's" nine-year history, a DVD will be made available to the American people. "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: Indecision 2004" DVD is an uncensored three-disc boxed set featuring original content produced exclusively for the DVD by Jon Stewart and correspondents Samantha Bee, Stephen Colbert, Rob Corddry and Ed Helms.

In addition, the DVD will include the following: all four shows from the Democratic National Convention taped at Boston University; all four shows from the Republican National Convention taped at COMEDY CENTRAL's World News Headquarters in New York City; "The Bush-Kerry Debate: The Squabble in Coral Gables," a special live presentation of the first presidential debate held on September 30, 2004; "Election Night 2004: Prelude to a Recount," the culmination of the show's "Indecision 2004" coverage that originally aired as a special one-hour primetime presentation; and highlights from the 2004 campaign.

Unforgettable moments from the DNC include Colbert's side-splitting commentary regarding Barak Obama's "Son of a Goat Herder" story; Corddry's "Welcome To Boston" field piece which shows the Bean-town native being razzed by his buddies; and the faux John Kerry biographical film. Guests who appeared that week include Governor Bill Richardson and Senator Joe Biden.

Memorable moments from the RNC include Bee and Helms at the convention asking the "tough" questions; Colbert on the convention floor during the night of Bush's speech where he feels like "a turd of liberty being squeezed out the colon of independence;" and the faux George W. Bush biographical film. Ted Koppel, Dan Bartlett, Senator John McCain and Chris Matthews were the guests who appeared that week.

In 2004, "The Daily Show" was honored for the second consecutive year with the Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series. The show also won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program. This marks the third time (and second consecutive year) that the Peabody Award-winning "Daily Show" was recognized in the writing category.

"Indecision 2004" marked the second presidential election covered by Stewart and his crack team of correspondents from "The Daily Show." The series earned its stripes during the now-infamous 2000 election, receiving an Emmy Award and a prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for its year-long coverage of the race for the White House. Senator Bob Dole served as the series' Guest Political Commentator throughout that campaign.

I'll wait till the reviews come out before I buy it. I was hoping that what they meant by a TDS dvd coming out was they meant they were going to sell a dvd of TDS higlights from 1999--Jon's first year, and then so on and so on. Not stuff we've seen 300 times already.
